MBTA
The MBTA, or more commonly referred to as simply the "T", has been shutteling Bostonians around this great city of ours since 1897. Boston was the first city in America (and the 3rd in the Western Hemisphere) to have a subway system with NYC quickly following suit.
The Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority is a very extensive public transportation system bus, subway, ferry, and commuter train service.

Currently, the T has 5 major lines:
The
Charlie Card is your pass to riding on the T and the most cost efficent as opposed to purchasing single rides. It can either act as a debit card when money is loaded . Pick one up at any major T station.
- Fares on the T using the Charlie Card are as follows:
- Subway: $1.70
- Bus: $1.25
- Commuter Rail: $1.70-$7.75
- Boat: $1.70-$12.00
- Monthly linkpass: unlimited bus and subway- $59.00
- Day/Week LinkPass $9.00 for 1 day $15.00 for 7 days
- Local Bus: $40/month
- Inner Express Bus: $89/month
Unlimited travel on Inner Express Bus PLUS all Subway, Local Bus, Inner Harbor Ferry, and Commuter Rail Zone 1A.
- Outer Express Bus: $129/month
Unlimited travel on Outer Express Bus PLUS all Inner Express Bus, Local Bus, Subway, Inner Harbor Ferry, and Commuter Rail Zone 1A.
- Commuter Rail Passes: $59-$250
- Commuter Boat: $198/month
